Great hosts, would love to come back. The food is great too. Thumbs up for price performance.
Great food, nice ambience
Very nice hosts ..... delicious food
Spilunke. The charm of the 70s wafts through the entire property. It smells like air freshener (why should I 🤔). Bathrooms are drinkable. Dinner is so-so, for the price. The breakfast, however, is awesome. I have seldom seen such a carelessly arranged, scruffy and tasty breakfast buffet as that. Unreasonable 😡 Unfortunately, the "ruler" of the house cannot shed light on the poor overall impression.
A very unfriendly hostess overshadowed the whole stay. On arrival a growl and a snarl and zero cordiality. The gasthaus itself is old and dated but fine. The hostess is so incredibly unfriendly, not polite and totally unfit to deal with people, that I advise against anyone to stay there overnight. You better go to the neighbor on the other side. The landlady is curt, to the point of evil. She despises her guests and is clearly not good at her role. Pity. Not recommended. You can also not park with a trailer tent or caravan. A good breakfast and well located near highways.
Very good rooms and also good food, there is a good selection and sufficient amount of the menu available.
Price performance is absolutely ok!
I have always felt comfortable and like to visit it.
The room, very basic, but clean. Morning snack, the typical buffet with bread, sausages, confitures, coffee, yogurt, ...

Great rooms and delicious dinner and breakfast
The owner was rude and sighed when we arrived as we do not speak german. I recommend this place despite her husband who was more welcoming
Cleanliness and friendliness were not what you would expect. I was not satisfied.
Breakfast was good. Room was good. Staff friendly.
The food is not really good, very salty and the salad tastes of old wet towel.
Good and cheap By bus directly to the fair
Definitely worth leaving. Clean, comfortable and peaceful place. Rich breakfast. At dinner, the house salad, beef and fried potatoes did not leave much to be desired. The meal was a full ten. Gasthaus to my liking.
We were looking for cheap accommodation with breakfast. We also found that here. For under 40 € per night per person we got a room here. The breakfast was good. The buffet was nice and there was also tea or coffee for breakfast. The arrival after 22 clock was possible by arrangement, which I found very good. The room was quite small but adequate. We had separated shower and toilet. In the room with the toilet was no sink, which I did not like. The bed was ok.
On balance I had a nice experience at this gasthaus. Bernd and Katrin are very friendly, gracious and accommodating hosts. Their English isn't perfect but it's good enough for basic communication. It is certainly far better than my German. I was there during the peak of the summer of 2018 heat wave and the placed a fan in my room without my having to ask for it. They were also kind enough to order a taxi when I needed it. My room was cleaned every day.The room was clean with a private bathroom and small refrigerator, and the bed was wide and comfortable. I was provided with an amoire <sp> for my clothes, TV which I never used and free wifi. The wifi was sporadic but good enough for me. If you're going to need consistent WIFI then it's a consideration. The dinner menu is good and varied. Bernd is a fine chef and Katrin waits on tables. The continental breakfast offers a wide choice of cold cuts, cheeses, juice, cereal and boiled eggs. The coffee is excellent. The biggest minus is the distance of the gasthaus from the center of town. If you're a party animal that needs to stay out until all hours then this place isn't for you. However, it was sufficient for me to be in my bed by 12:30 A.M. and if you're like me then you'll be fine. The last #1 tram leaves the center of Freiburg at the Hauptbahnhof stop at 11:30. This gives you plenty of time to make it to the Landwasser stop, which is the end of the line, and pick up the waiting #36 bus to Dorfplatz, where the Gasthaus Zur Sonne is located. The ride is less than 10 minutes and only 4 stops. One unexpected bonus that they offer is laundry service. Katrin did my laundry for two weeks for 14 Euros. Prices may vary but this is the ballpark figure. So again, on balance, I recommend Gasthaus Zur Sonne. If you consider the fine hospitality, the menu and the reasonable price, these factors far outweigh the distance from the city center and sporadic WIFI, in my opinion. I gave them four stars but if I could I'd make it 4.5. Yuri from the USA.
We only stayed one night, great place and nice people.
They stopped for one night, transiting from France to Uraine. The bed is comfortable, slept well. Check in is normal. Exit until 6:00, so breakfast did not interest us. All is acceptable, but the toilet room in the corridor, it's clearly already "before yesterday" in the hotel service. In the hotels of the F1 network, where it is also practiced, number 26 is only taken ... However, the view from the balcony was wonderful, and we had plenty of wine and cheese. :)
I was in Freiburg for a day and rented a room there. The room was clean and had a small bathroom and a TV. The food (steak) was excellent. The breakfast in the breakfast room was not my case, because everything was too tight for me. Parking is available in front of the house. W Lan was included.
After Cancellation hotel invoiced 100% cancellation, although in terms of booking it was stated that this is a non-binding reservation.
100% will comeback again! 👍👍
